- Prepare 1-2 cups of cooked rice.
- You need 2-3 of tomatoes chopped.
- You need 1-2 tbsp of oil.
- You need 1 tsp of mustard seeds.
- Prepare pinch of asafoetida (hing).
- Prepare 1 tsp of urad dal (split black gram).
- It's 1 tbsp of chana dal (Bengal gram).
- It's 1 of onion chopped.

- Heat oil & temper with mustard seeds. Saute for a few seconds. Add the asafoetida, urad dal & chana dal & saute till it changes colour. Then add onion, ginger, garlic, fresh chilies & curry leaves. Fry till light brown..
- Add the tomatoes and turmeric powder. Saute till it is mashed up. Add the rice, salt and sambar powder. Saute for 2-3 minutes..
