  1. It's 1/2 cup of Varagu/kodo millet.
  2. It's 2 tbsp of moong dhal.
  3. You need 2 1/2 cup of water.
  4. You need 1/2 cup of ghee.
  5. It's as required of Chopped cashews.
  6. It's 1 tbsp of cumin and pepper.
  7. It's 1/2 tbsp of chopped ginger.
  8. Prepare as required of curry leaves.
  9. You need 1 teaspoon of hing.
  10. You need as per taste of Salt as required.

  1. Dry roast varargu with dhal in thick bottom pan for 2 minutes. Then wash it and rinse the water thoroughly. in a cooker add Varagu rice and dhal with salt and water make it for 3-4 whistles..
  2. In a separate pan, add ghee in it add chopped ginger, cumin pepper,hing and curry leaves..
  3. After the cooker gets cool in room temperature add roasted ingredients in that Varagu rice and mix well if u want add some more ghee. Healthy kodo millet/Varagu rice Pongal is ready to eat,u can enjoy it with coconut chutney as best combination..

Here I have made this pongal using millet (siru dhaniyam) which makes it even more healthy than the pongal made with rice.
