- You need 1 cup of masoor dal.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of rice.

- Soak rice and masoor dal for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil and one tbsp of ghee in pan.
- Add all whole spices and curry leaves and let them crackle.
- Add onion and green chilli and sauté it for 3 minutes.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté it.
- Add water and let it boil.
- Add salt, termeric powder, cumin coriander powder and mix well.
- Add red chilli powder and one tbsp of ghee and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add soaked rice and masoor dal and mix properly.
- Cover with lead and let it cook for 10 minutes and stir it occasionally.
- Open lead and cook for 2 minutes.
- Garnish it with roasted cashews and fired onion and serve it with roasted papad.
