Ingredients of Ven Pongal

  1. You need 1 cup of rice.
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup of moong dal.
  3. You need 2 tsp of cumin seeds.
  4. You need 1" of ginger.
  5. It's 1 of green chilli.
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp of crossed pepper corn.
  7. It's 7-8 of curry leaves.
  8. You need 1 pinch of asafoetida.
  9. Prepare 2 tbsp of ghee.
  10. You need 7-8 of cashewnut.
  11. It's To taste of salt.

Ven Pongal step by step

  1. Dry roast the rice & moong dal.Wash 2 times.chop the ginger..
  2. Heat a pressure cooker add ghee.Once ghee melted add asafoetida,chopped ginger & green chilli.Add rice & dal.Next lets add water double of the rice & dal.Pongal should be very soft & mushy,that is the reason we are adding more water.Add required salt &cover the lead.Cook 4 whistle comes..
  3. Keep this aside.Melt ghee,add cashew & roast until golden..
  4. Now to this add crossed pepper corns, cumin seeds & curry leaves crackle this & pour with rice.Mix well.Ven Pongal is ready to serve.Serve with curd,or rasam & Papad..
