Ingredients of Cashew Pongal
- It's 200 g of rice.
- Prepare 1/4 spoon of jeera cumin.
- You need 150 g of Moong Dal.
- You need 20 of cashews.
- Prepare 2 of Green chillies.
- You need 4-5 of peppercorns.
- Prepare to taste of Salt.
- You need 50-75 gm of Ghee.
- You need as needed of Curry leaves few.
- It's 1/4 spoon of hing / asafoetida----------------+.
- You need 1 tsp of Oil.
Cashew Pongal step by step
- Soak both rice and moong dal after wash and drain water and keep aside..
- Heat a pressure pan with some oil and ghee,once hot add cashews and roast till brown And then add peppercorns jeera,hing,chillies and curry leaves.Remove half the mixture a to serve on the top and keep aside for serving..
- Now add the soaked rice and moong dal.Add 3 times more water 1:3 and some salt and pressure cook till it's done approx 5 whishtles or more if you prefer mashy...once cooked remove from heat and add the remaining mixture of ghee,chillies cashews and curry leaves on top and serve hot with a tomato or coconut chutney or a lemon pickle and papad it's very Healthy and tasty South Indian style khichidi is ready...
