Ingredients of Pongal(sweet)

  1. You need 1/2 cup of rice.
  2. You need 3 tbsp of moong dal.
  3. You need 3/4 of cup-1/2 cup jaggery (as required).
  4. It's 2 1/2 cup of water.
  5. It's 3 tbsp of ghee.
  6. Prepare 1/4 cup of whole cashews.
  7. Prepare 2 tbsp of raisins.
  8. It's 1 tsp of cardamom powder.
  9. You need 1/2 tsp of nutmeg powder.
  10. You need 2 of cloves.

Pongal(sweet) instructions

  1. Soaked rice in a water for 30 minutes..
  2. Wash moong dal well. In pressure cooker add 2 tbs ghee. Then add cashews fry well then add raisins fry well. Keep aside. Then add moong dal stir it well..
  3. Now add soaked rice. Add 1 1/2 cup water. Mix well. Pressure cook for 1 whistle. Then cook it for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame..
  4. Switch off the gas. In another pan take jaggery and 1 cup water. Boil and stir it till the jaggery melt completely..
  5. Now filter the jaggery water. Add to cooked rice dal mixture. Stir well till the jaggery combine with the rice and dal mixture. You can add 1/2 cup water for desired consistency if required..
  6. Now add fried cashews and raisins to it. Then add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix well..
  7. Switch off the gas. Pongal is ready to serve..
