Ingredients of Veg Pongal

  1. You need 1 cup of Raw rice.
  2. You need 1/2 cup of Moong daal.
  3. It's to taste of Salt.
  4. It's 1 tsp of Whole black pepper.
  5. You need 3/4 tsp of Hing.
  6. You need 1/2 cup of Clarified ghee.
  7. You need 10 of Broken cashews.
  8. Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
  9. Prepare of Curry leaves 2 strings.

Veg Pongal step by step

  1. Wash and Soak rice and daal for 15 mins..
  2. In a pressure cooker add both rice and daal together so totally it’s 1.5 cups. Water 4 cups mix well. Add salt. Allow for 4 whistle and off the flame..
  3. Leave the pressure by itself. Meanwhile go for tempering..
  4. In a pan add ghee, once hot, add cumin seeds, black pepper, hing, cashews, curry leaves allow to fry for few seconds, until cashews turns golden brown..
  5. Now the pressure would’ve gone. Smash the rice and daal nicely with a help of laddle. And transfer this tempering Into the rice daal mixture and mix well..
  6. Check the salt, ghee add according to that. Serve this hot and yummy Ven Pongal with chutney and sambhar 😋.
