- Prepare of Pressure cook :.
- It's 1 cup of Raw rice.
- It's 1/2 cup of Mung bean Split.
- It's 1/2 tsp of Peppercorn.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of jeera.
- Prepare 3 cups of water.
- It's 1.5 cups of Milk.
- It's to taste of salt (i add 1 tsp ).
- It's of Season with :.
- It's 1 tsps of Ghee.
- Prepare of Curry leaves few.
- It's 1/2 tsp of Jeera.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of Peppercorn.
- It's of Garnish :.
- It's 1 tsp of ghee.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of Cashew nuts.
Venn Pongal step by step
- Wash rice and mung bean well.
- Pressure cook Rice, Split mung bean, Jeera, Pepper, salt, Water, Milk for 3 whistles (Listed under Pressure cooking).
- Once the pressure gets released, Mash the contents a little bit.
- Heat a skillet. add ghee, curry leaves, jeera and peppercorn (the ones listed under seasoning). stir for less than a minute and pour on top of the contents in pressure cooker. Stir well.
- Heat Tadka pan and add ghee and cashew nuts(listed under garnish). Stir the cashew till the cashew turns light brown. This ghee and cashew is used to garnish pongal.
- Serve hot with Coconut Chutney.
