Ingredients of Venn Pongal

  2. It's 1 cup of Raw rice.
  3. It's 1/2 cup of Mung bean Split.
  4. It's 1/2 tsp of Peppercorn.
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp of jeera.
  6. Prepare 3 cups of water.
  7. It's 1.5 cups of Milk.
  8. It's to taste of salt (i add 1 tsp ).
  9. It's of Season with :.
  10. It's 1 tsps of Ghee.
  11. Prepare of Curry leaves few.
  12. It's 1/2 tsp of Jeera.
  13. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Peppercorn.

  16. Prepare 1 tbsp of Cashew nuts.

Venn Pongal step by step

  1. Wash rice and mung bean well.
  2. Pressure cook Rice, Split mung bean, Jeera, Pepper, salt, Water, Milk for 3 whistles (Listed under Pressure cooking).
  3. Once the pressure gets released, Mash the contents a little bit.
  4. Heat a skillet. add ghee, curry leaves, jeera and peppercorn (the ones listed under seasoning). stir for less than a minute and pour on top of the contents in pressure cooker. Stir well.
  5. Heat Tadka pan and add ghee and cashew nuts(listed under garnish). Stir the cashew till the cashew turns light brown. This ghee and cashew is used to garnish pongal.
  6. Serve hot with Coconut Chutney.
