- It's 1 cup of Red Aval / Poha.
- You need 1 cup of Jaggery.
- It's 1 cup of Milk.
- You need 2 cups of Water.
- You need 1 tsp of Cardamom powder.
- You need 2 tbsp of Ghee.
- You need Few of Cashew nuts.
- You need Few of Raisins.
- It's 1 pinch of Salt.
Red Aval / Poha Pongal step by step
- Mix jaggery with little water, bring to boil, cool and filter it, keep aside. Bring about 3 cups of water to lukewarm heat and turn off the flame, soak the aval/ poha in it for 5 minutes. Drain it. In a pressure pan add milk, water, salt and soaked aval/poha and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
