Ingredients of Ghee Pongal or Venn Pongal

  1. It's 1 cup of Raw Rice.
  2. Prepare 1/4 cup of Split yellow moong dal / Pasiparuppu.
  3. You need to taste of Salt.
  4. It's 4 cup of Water.
  5. You need of Spices:.
  6. It's 5 tblspn of Ghee.
  7. You need 2 tsp of Cumin seeds / Jeera.
  8. It's 10 of Cashew nuts.
  9. You need 2 chopped of Green chilli.
  10. It's 2 tblspn grated of Ginger.
  11. Prepare 1 tblspn of Pepper.
  12. You need 1 sprig of Curry leaves.

Ghee Pongal or Venn Pongal instructions

  1. Wash rice and daal.Drain it and set aside. Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a pressure cooker and add in rice and daa.Fry this for 5 mins..
  2. Pour in the water and bring this to a boil.Add in salt. Cover and cook for 4 whistle and simmer it for 10 mins.Let the pressure go by itself..
  3. Open the pressure cooker and mix well.. Heat ghee in a kadai and add in cashews, cumin seeds, pepper, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves and sauté this for a minute...
  4. Now add in rice and dal mixture and mix well.Let the rice absorb all flavours. Mix this for 3 minutes..
  5. Serve hot with sambar or chutney...
