Carrot Halwa Tart instructions

  1. Deskin and finely grate the carrots.
  2. Melt the ghee in a wok and stir the shredded carrots on medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add water and bring to a boil.
  4. After which, reduce heat and cook covered for upto 10 minutes.
  5. Next add milk and sugar. Mix well.
  6. Continue to cook covered.
  7. Meanwhile, for the tart, combine flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.
  8. Add the melted butter and mix well to form a crumbly mix.
  9. Knead a soft dough by gradually adding warm water and keep covered for upto 15 minutes.
  10. Keep stirring the halwa every 3-4 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 180 degree celcius.
  12. After 15 minutes, make small,equal portions of the dough.
  13. Grease a muffin tray or tart moulds with some butter or oil.
  14. Roll the dough pieces into discs and fit them into the moulds.
  15. Trim the edges to make perfectly fitting tarts dough.
  16. Bake them for 10-12 minutes or until firm.
  17. Allow to cool slightly and then demould.
  18. As the halwa thickens, add cardamom powder and mix.
  19. As the halwa reaches the desired consistency, add nuts,raisins and take off heat.
  20. Fill up each tart with 2 tablespoons of halwa prepared.
