Ingredients of Kappa Puttu

  1. Prepare 1 number of tapioca medium sized.
  2. Prepare 2 cups of cocunut scraped.
  3. Prepare to taste of salt.

Kappa Puttu instructions

  1. Clean the tapioca and grate it..
  2. Add salt and keep aside for 5 minutes. Adding salt squeezes out the water out of the tapioca..
  3. Now squeeze the grated tapioca and strain all the water..
  4. Keep water for boiling in a puttu kudam/pot..
  5. Put grated coconut in the puttu kutty/puttu mould as first layer followed by tapioca as second layer again followed by cocunut scrapings. (Just the way we do while preparing normal rice puttu)..
  6. Repeat until puttu mould/puttu kutty is filled till top.Close the lid and place over puttu kudam..
  7. Cook till steam starts escaping from the top of the puttu pot..
  8. Once the puttu is done serve hot with kadala curry (chickpea curry) or any other curry of your choice..
