Ingredients of Shahi Tukda

  1. Prepare 8-10 of Bread slices.
  2. You need 150 ml of Condensed milk.
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup of Khova/mawa.
  4. Prepare 400 ml of boiled and thickened milk.
  5. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.
  6. Prepare 5-6 tbsp of Nuts (sliced)- Unsalted Pistachio,Almonds.
  7. It's 1 tsp of Saffron.
  8. Prepare of Ghee/Oil for toasting.
  9. It's 1 1/2 cup of Sugar.
  10. It's 1 cup of water.

Shahi tukda is one of the most popular Indian desserts. True to its name it is a 'shahi' delight! Pieces of bread are dipped in delicious saffron flavoured sugar syrup and topped with rich and creamy rabdi. Shahi Tukda recipe is a rich dessert dish from heaven of India Kashmir.

Shahi Tukda instructions

  1. Remove Brown sides of bread and cut into triangle or square shape (4 piecesod one bread).
  2. Heat Ghee/oil in a pan and roast all the pieces of bread slices until light golden brown colour and crisp..
  3. Take a separate pan to make a mixture of rabri...add thickened milk, condensed milk, Saffron and cardamom powder.Mix Welland let it cook for two minutes.
  4. Add Khova and dissolve in the rabri mixture and let it cook for 2-3mins, then cool the mixture for 15mins.
  5. Make Sugar syrup by using sugar and water, let it boil till medium consistency.
  6. Arrange all the toasted bread slices next to each other in a square shaped deep dish.
  7. Pour Sugar syrup on each slice.
  8. Then Pour the rabri also all over the bread slices.
  9. Garnish with slices nuts and saffron.
  10. Refrigerate for 5-6 hours so that bread could absorb rabri properly.
  11. Serve chilled.
