The authentic gujiya has stuffing of sweet mawa or khoya.
Hence it is known as Mawa gujiya as well.
If khoya is not available where you live then you can use the same amount of milk powder.

Ingredients of Mawa (khoya) gujiya
- Prepare 2 cup of Maida.
- You need 1/4 cup of Desi ghee.
- You need 50 gm of almonds crushed.
- Prepare 50 gm of cashewnuts crushed.
- Prepare 150 gm of desiccated coconut.
- It's 150 gm of powder sugar.
- It's 200 g of khoya.
- You need of Oil to fry.
The mawa/khoya gujya is crisp and flaky on the outside and contains a filling made from khoya, sooji, sugar and dry fruits. The gujiya is a tedious and time-consuming delicacy and the important thing is to. Add khoya/mawa and mix well with hands to combine khoya with sooji well. If you are not using khoya skip this step.
Mawa (khoya) gujiya step by step
- Add ghee to maida and rub with fingers nicely. Now add water n knead into a dough. Keep covered for sometimes.
- Fry Mawa in a pan till brown. Remove from flame n cool. Add coconut, nuts and powder sugar. Mix well n make small long rolls of khoya..
- Roll a thin chapati of maida dough, cut with a cutter into small circles. Now roll these circles little. Dust gujiya mould and put rolled chapati on the mould. Now put one khoya roll on it. Apply some water on the edges and seal the gujiya. Prepare all n keep covered aside..
- Heat oil and bring flame to medium. Fry gujiya three to four at a time on med flame..
- Store fried gujiya in steel or glass container n enjoy..
