  1. You need 2 cups of refined flour.
  2. It's 4 spoons of chocolate powder.
  3. It's 1/4 cup of clarified butter.
  4. It's As required of Lukewarm water for kneading.
  5. Prepare As required of Refined oil for frying.
  6. It's 1 cup of semolina.
  7. It's 1/2 cup of grated coconut.
  8. It's 1 packet of jelly.
  9. Prepare 1/2 cup of sugar.
  10. It's 1 spoon of cardamom powder.

Keeping up with the tradition, I decided to make gujhiya, but with a twist. So I came up with the idea of making chocolate gujhiya. To the traditional gujiya filling, I added some chocolate chips and then rolled them in cinnamon-sugar. Of course some drizzled chocolate on top was totally necessary and so was my chandi ka vark (edible silver leaves) to make it look all festive!

Chocolate gujhiya step by step

  1. Heat 2 spoons clarified butter in a wok and roast semolina on medium flame..
  2. Once done add cardamom powder, sugar, grated coconut and jelly. Mix well and let it cool..
  3. In bowl mix and add refined flour, chocolate powder, remaining clarified butter and lukewarm water now knead a tight dough, cover and keep aside for 10 minutes..
  4. Divide the dough into small portions, roll thin and put 1 spoon of semolina mixture in it.Fold in half moon shape, seal the edges with water and fold like gujhiya..
  5. Heat oil and deep fry gujhiya on low flame..
  6. Chocolate gujhiya is ready..
