  16. Prepare 1/2 cup of water.
  17. It's 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder or pinch of saffron strings.

Designer Mat Mawa Gujhiya step by step

  1. For dough - Take maida in a bowl,add salt and ghee,mix well and knead a semi soft dough with using water.Cover the dough with wet cloth and keep aside to rest for atleast 30 mins..
  2. For making stuffing -- heat tsp of ghee in a pan,add mawa and roast until it change it's colour.(light pink).Add all chopped dry fruits,cardamom and mix well. Switch the flame off and let it cool for few minutes,after that add powdered sugar and mix well.Stuffing is ready..
  3. Making mat pattern - take a part from dough and roll it into circle/oval.cut from all sides to make ractangle.now cut and divide the rectangle into 2 parts..
  4. Place them on each other.as shown in the pic..
  5. Now place filling in centre and cover it with one part then with second..
  6. Make slit for remaining 2 parts to make strips..
  7. Now lift one strips and stick at the end as shown in the pic.(use water or all purpose flour slurry to stick corners.).
  8. Repeat this process to make mat pattern.prepare all mat gujiya same way..
  9. Heat oil in a wok, fry all gujhiya till light golden on low to medium heat..
  10. Meanwhile prepare sugar syrup - heat sugar and water in a pan and stir until sugar dissolved completely. reduce the heat and cook for few mins.switch off the heat..
  11. Soak fried gujhiya in sugar syrup for 5 mins..
  12. Take them out in a plate, garnish with some almonds and pista flakes.Ready to serve..
