  1. It's 1.5 cups of Urad Dal (White).
  2. Prepare 1/2 cup of Dhuli Moong Dal (Yellow).
  3. Prepare 1/4 cup of Arhar Dal.
  4. You need 1/4 cup of Chana Dal.
  5. You need 1/4 tsp of Asafoetida Powder.
  6. It's 8-10 of Peppercorns.
  7. It's 2 of cloves.
  8. You need 1.5 inch of ginger piece, peeled.
  9. You need 2-3 of Green Chillies.
  10. Prepare 10-12 of roughly chopped Curry Leaves.
  11. You need 2 tbsp of chopped fresh Coriander Leaves.
  12. It's 2 of finely chopped Onions.
  13. It's 2 tbsp of Rice Flour (optional).
  14. Prepare to taste of Salt.
  15. You need as required of Oil to fry.

Dal Vadas step by step

  1. Wash & soak all the Dals in some water for 6 hours..
  2. Drain, reserve the water..
  3. Add dal mix in a mixer jar, ginger, peppercorns, cloves, green chillies, asafoetida, salt, just a little of the reserved water. Grind till smooth in batches..
  4. Add chopped onions, curry leaves and coriander leaves, mix. If the batter is a little runny, you can add 2 tbsp rice flour..
  5. Deep fry small blobs of the ready batter in hot oil on medium heat till golden brown & crisp..
  6. Serve hot. Enjoy with Chutney of choice or Ketchup..
