- Prepare 2 cup of Vermicelli.
- Prepare 3 tbsp of Ghee/oil.
- You need 1-2 of Chopped onion.
- It's 2 of Chopped green chilli.
- Prepare 1 of Chopped capsicum.
- It's 2 of Chopped carrot.
- Prepare 2 of Chopped tomato.
- Prepare 1/2 tea spoon of Turmeric powder.
- You need 1/2 tea spoon of Coriander powder.
- You need 1/2 tsp of Red chilli powder.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of Garam masala.
- Prepare 1 tsp of Maggi masala.
- Prepare as required of Water.
It is called by different names in different regions like shavige bhath , semiya upma , namkeen sevaiyan, seavi etc. But the recipe for all remains the same. as i mentioned previously, the recipe for semiya upma have many variations and may differ with vegetables or spiced added to it. the most common it is the most common way of preparing the vermicelli upma. but the other variation may also involve by adding veggies like beans, green peas. No matter where you go in India, upma is a hot favorite breakfast food. Originally from South India, this recipe uses sevai or vermicelli.
Vermicelli upma | Namkeen sevaiyan step by step
- Add 1 spn ghee in a pan.
- Heat ghee and add vermicelli.
- Roast the vermicelli for 3-4 minutes.
- Keep the roasted vermicelli aside.
- Add 2 spn oil in pan, heat pan, add onion and green chilli and saute for 2-3 min till onion becomes golden brown.
- Add carrot, capsicum and tomatoes, saute for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, GARAM masala and maggi masala..
- Mix well, add 2 cup water,mix well, covered with lid and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes open the lid, mix well, turn off the flame...
- Vermicelli upma is ready to serve..
