- Make the jelly as per the instructions on the packet.

- After the jelly sets, start work on the custard.
- Keep the yolks in a dry bowl. Beat well with the sugar.
- In another small bowl, mix the cornflour well with some water and set aside.
- Boil the milk and the vanilla essence in a sturdy pot.
- When the milk boils, add slowly to the egg yolks-sugar mixture, while continuously whisking.
- Return this mixture to the burner and simmer on low heat.
