Sweet Potato Holige/Poli Sweet potato poli preparation has basically two steps. Sweet Potato Poli, a scrumptious Indian dessert made with maida based outer cover and sweet potato and green moong based inner filling. Generally we make poli with channa dal filling or coconut filling. You can cook Sweet Potato Holige/Poli using 7 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Sweet Potato Holige/Poli

  1. You need 1 cup of wheat flour.
  2. It's 1 tsp of salt.
  3. You need 3 of Sweet potatoes.
  4. It's 200 gms of jaggery or equal portion after boil the sweet potato.
  5. It's 4 tsp of oil.
  6. It's 1 tsp of cardamon Powder.
  7. It's as needed of water.

This sweet potato is a another variety of filling that is so tasty. it is commonly believed that, puran poli is native to maharashtra and it belongs to marathi cuisine. however most of them do not know that its also native to karnataka and is commonly refereed as bele obbattu or bele holige. in karnataka, it is prepared with variety of stuffing. Sweet potato poli is a stuffed flat bread made in traditional Indian style by stuffing boiled and mashed or grated sweet potato. Take a pan add sweet potato add water cook till potatos are boiled,or u can use presure cooker. Once it is boiled remove the skin and cut into small pieces and mash it.

Sweet Potato Holige/Poli step by step

  1. First Prepare dough:Take a vessel add wheat flour,salt,water little by little and make a soft dough as Holige and close it with a lid or cover with cotton cloth for few minutes.
  2. Inner stuff:Take sweet potato wash it neatly and keep in pressure cook to boil the sweet potato with water make 2 whistle it's should be soft and easily mashable (not more),if too soft then stuff will come outside while making holige.
  3. Later remove from the cooker and peel the outer part and smashed it and take same portion of jaggery add to the bowl,keep on a gas until both the mixture combine as shown in the picture later add cardomom powder to the mixture and keep for cool.
  4. Take a lemon size portion from the inner stuff(horana) and also outer dough and keep as shown in the figure 1 and close it neatly (stuff should not come outside) as shown in figure 2.
  5. Take plastic paper or banana paper grease the oil and kept the stuff and roll it slowly as shown in the figure.
  6. On another side heat the pan after roll the holige kept on pan along with paper in a medium flame after 1 minute remove the paper slowly from the pan.When bubbles start appearing flip it on other side and when dark brown colour is appearing on both side then remove from pan,continue the same procedure for remaining Holiges.Then it's ready to eat serve with ghee it's very yummy recipe..
