Ingredients of Ela Ada / Vazhayila Ada
- It's 1 cup of roasted Rice flour.
- Prepare 1/3 cup - 1/2 cup of grated jaggery.
- It's as required of Hot water.
- Prepare to taste of Salt.
- Prepare 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder.
- You need 1 cup of grated coconut.
- Prepare as required of Banana leaves.

- In a bowl, add rice flour and salt. mix well. Gradually add hot water and mix with spoon.Do not add in all water at once. Let it rest for some time.
- Knead into smooth chapati like dough. Keep it aside.
- Mix coconut jaggery,cardamom powder in a bowl with hands until well combined and soft.
- Clean the banana leaves and heat it slightly on both sides directly over the flame so that leaves do not break while folding.
- Spread 1/2 tsp of coconut oil all over the leaf with the fingers..
- Place lemon size dough in the center of the leaf, flatten it with wet fingers like small roti and spread the filling on it..
- Gently fold the leaf in half. Tuck the ends of the leaf..
- Place the adas in a steamer/idly cooker and steam it for 8- 10 minutes over high heat.
- Remove the adas from the steamer. Serve warm.
