Ingredients of Sooji Appam
- Prepare 1 cup of sooji (semolina).
- It's 3/4 cup of buttermilk.
- You need 1 of tomato medium size (finely chopped).
- Prepare 1 of onion medium size (finely chopped).
- You need 1/2 cup of grated carrot (optional).
- You need 1/4 cup of capsicum finally chopped (optional).

Sooji Appam step by step
- Soak sooji with buttermilk in a bowl for approx. 20-30 minutes..
- In the meantime, finish chopping and getting in place all other ingredients. Mix all of it with the batter. Note: If any of the above vegetables are not available, then batter can be made with rest of the ingredients..
- Take an appam tawa. Put 1-1 drop oil in all the rounds of appam tawa..
- Pour 1 spoon full batter in all the rounds and cover tawa with a lid. Keep tawa on medium heat..
- When the top colour of appam slightly changes from white to offwhite, flip the appam to cook the other side. It will take approximately 3-4 minutes..
- Put drops of oil from sides, so that it's bottom also gets cooked completely. Cover tawa with a lid..
- Check appam after 2 minutes..
- Appam are ready. Serve with tamarind chutney, coriander chutney or curd. Note: Instant uttapam also can be prepared witht he same batter..
