Ingredients of Rui macher jhol / Rohu fish curry
- It's 1 kg of Rohu fish.
- It's 3 of Chopped onion.
- You need 1tbsp of Ginger garlic paste.
- Prepare 2tbsp of Cumin coriander powder.
- It's 1cup of Tomato puree.
- It's 1tbsp of Red chilli Powder.
- Prepare 1tsp of Cumin seed.
- It's 2 of Bay leaves.
- It's 1 of Dry red chilli.
- It's 1 of Handful whole garam masalas.
- It's To taste of Salt and sugar.
- It's As needed of Oil.
- Prepare 1tsp of Turmeric powder.
The way the flavour of the soft tender potatoes mixes with the Rohu fish, it's truly incredible and I cannot make enough of this dish at home - and for. And this typical fish curry or Macher Jhol must be light and runny curry, with minimum use of spices and sweet water carp fishes like Rohu/Katla/Mrigel/Kal boush/Tilapia are the first preference for this recipe. Rui Mach or Rohu fish is suppose to be one of the regular staple diets of every Bengali household. Fish had always been my love at the dining table.
Rui macher jhol / Rohu fish curry instructions
- Clean & marinate the fish well with salt and turmeric powder.
- Heat oil and fry the fish well and remove.
- Now add cumin seed bay leaf and red chilli whole and whole garam masalas.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute well adding salt and turmeric powder.
- Add onion chopped and saute well till it is soft and brown.
- Add cumin-coriander powder and red chilli Powder and mix well.
- Add tomato and saute well till oil separates.
- Add water and boil along with the fish.
- Add sugar and mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves chopped and garam masala powder and serve..
