- You need 8 of tomatoes.
- It's 1 of onion.
- It's 10 of Green chillies.
- You need 2 tbsp of Jeera.
- Prepare 10-15 of garlic cloves.
- You need of Salt as per taste.
- You need 1/4 tsp of hing.
- Prepare 1/2 bunch of Coriander.
- Prepare 1/2 of lemon sized tamarind or 1tbsp tamarind pulp.
- Prepare 2 tsp of oil.
It makes for a great side with a number of dishes like Cracked Wheat Vegetable Upma, Khichdi, Uthappam. Try it as a spread on your toast or pizza. Add the sundried tomato paste, the chopped tomatoes and a pinch of sugar. Season to taste, then leave to cool before serving.
Tangy Spicy Tomato Chutney step by step
- Chop Onions and peel garlic.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the Jeera.
- Once jeers starts frying, add garlic.
- Now add chopped onion and green chillies. Let it cook for 4-5mins.
- Add chopped tomato and mix well..
- Cover the pan with a lid and cook tomato for 3-4mins on medium flame,until it becomes soft. Switch off the flame and allow it to cool.
- Once cooled, grind the cooked tomato mixture by adding salt and hing.
- Add fresh coriander and grind again.
- Add soaked tamarind or tamarind pulp and grind for 10secs..
- Serve the chutney with rice or any breakfast(idli,dosa,vada and upma).
