This Prawns-shrimp curry is thirssur style and as the title says, shrimp-prawns is cooked in coconut milk and with special Kerala fish tamarind, Kudampuli also know as Gracinia Cambogia-Gambooge.

- You need 1 cup of shallots chopped.
- You need 1 kg of prawns.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of coconut grated.
- You need of tamarind lemon sized ball.
- Prepare 1/2 tbsp of ginger garlic paste.
- It's 4 tbsps of Coconut Oil -.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of pepper.
- It's 1/2 tsp of mustard.
- Prepare 1 of curry leaves - stalk.
- It's 5 of green chilli -.
- It's 1 of corriander powder tbss.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of turmeric.
- You need 1/2 tsp of chilli powder.

- 1)Cook prawns in a cup of water along with salt and turmeric powder.2)When cooked, add tamarind pulp soaked in around 1 cup of water.3)Heat oil in a pan 4)Splutter mustard seeds.5)Add curry leaves,small onions, green chilies, ginger and garlic and fry, till the onions turn light brown.6)Add the above into the prawns.7)Heat up a pan.8)Add coconut, small onions, pepper and fry well.9)When the coconut turns light brown, take the pan off the fire.10)Add chilly powder, coriander powder and saute....
Bring to a boil and add the prawns, curry leaves. Cover with a lid and cook until the prawns are done and the gravy is semi-thick. Prawns curry (Chemmeen Theeyal) is one of the best theeyals prepared by my mom along with another recipe which I posted long time back, ulli (shallots)theeyal. This recipe is also my mom's best preparation with prawns too. We as kids always devoured more rice that day whenever this dish was.
