Ingredients of Urad Dal Sweet Appam
- Prepare 200 grams of urad dal.
- It's 100 gms of raw rice.
- It's 100 gms of grated jaggery.
- You need 1 cup of finely cut coconut pieces.
- It's 1 tsp of cardamom powder.
- You need To taste of salt.
- You need 1-2 tsp of ghee for greasing.
Baked vadas also taste yummy but it is slightly dry compared to the deep fried ones. Paniyaram pan version also works well, the vadas turned out perfect just like the deep fried ones. Preparation of Appam Batter: Soak the idli rice, raw rice, orid dal, fenugreek in a bowl. Urad Dal Sweet Appam step by step
- Soak urad dal and rice for 5-6 hours. Wash well and grind them to a thick paste/ batter..
- Keep the batter for 8 hours to undergo fermentation..
- After fermentation add salt, jaggery, coconut, cardamom powder and mix well..
- Preheat the appam maker and grease the moulds with little ghee..
- Now fill the moulds with batter mix by the help of a spoon. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes on a low flame..
- When the appam turns golden brown from beneath, flip the side. Cover and cook for 2 more minutes. See that the appam gets golden brown from both the sides..
- Take out the appam from the moulds and prepare similar appam with rest of the batter mix..
- Serve the delicious urad dal sweet appam hot garnished & sticked with coconut cubes..
