  1. You need 6 of ILISH pieces.
  2. It's 1 tbsp of black MUSTARD seeds.
  3. Prepare 2 tbsp of white mustard seeds.
  4. You need 1 cup of coconut milk.
  5. You need 5-6 of green chillies.
  6. You need 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
  7. You need 2 tbsp of mustard oil.
  8. It's to taste of Salt.

Bhapa Ilish/ STEAMED ILISH WITH FILTERED MUSTARD PASTE & COCONUT step by step

  1. At first paste the black,white mustard seeds,Green chillies nicely in a grinder.Then filtered them in a bowl..
  2. Take a Tiffin box,place wash fish pieces.Now massage the Ilish fishes with salt, turmeric.Then pour the filtered mustard paste, coconut milk,1/4 cup water,2tbsp mustard oil & the green chillies.Cover the Tiffin box tightly..
  3. Take a kadai,add sufficient water & place the tiffin box in it.Steamed it for 1/2 an hour on high & medium flame..
  4. If required add little water into the kadai slowly..
  5. After 1/2an hour switch off the flame.Place the fishes into a serving plate, pour the gravy over the fishes..
  6. Garnish with slited green chillies..
  7. Now have this awesome,delicious bhapa ilish with plain rice & enjoy.
