Ingredients of Nei Appam
- Prepare 2 cups of Raw rice -.
- Prepare 1 1/2 cups of Jaggery grated -.
- You need 3/4 cup of Wheat flour -.
- You need 1/4 tsp of Cardamom powder -.
- You need 1/4 tsp of Dry ginger powder -.
- It's 1 pinch of Nutmeg or jaiphal powder.
- You need pieces of Coconut cut into small.
- You need 2 of bananas.
- Prepare of Ghee for frying.
Nei Appam instructions
- Soak the rice for 11/2 to 2 hours.
- Then drain the water completely and grind it in a mixie.Do not add water and grind it coarsely..
- Now add grated Jaggery and cut banana pieces. Grind it with 2 pulse not more..
- Then transfer it to a bowl and add wheat flour. Cardamom powder, dry ginger powder, jaiphal powder and a pinch of salt. Mix all the ingredients well so that no lumps are formed..
- In a small pan add little ghee and fry the cut coconut pieces till golden brown. Add it to the appam batter..
- You can make appams immediately. But here I have rested the batter for about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes..
- Heat ghee in a Kadai on medium flame. Take a small amount of batter in a small ladle and drop it gently into the ghee..
- When it puffs, turn over and cook the other side till golden brown. Drain the ghee using a slotted ladle and take it out from Kadai. Deep fry one appam at a time. Repeat the process for rest of the batter..
- Nei Appam is ready to serve..
