I belong to the southern group and for this month Chandrani Banerjee of Cuisine Delights challenged us to make Bengali delicacy Chanar Jalebi.
It is an authentic sweet prepared on festive occasions.
Paneer adds an interesting flavour to the jalebis.

Ingredients of Chanar jilepi Bengali sweet)
- It's 1 cup of crumbled paneer.
- You need 1 tbsp of suji(semolina).
- It's 2 tbsp of milk.
- You need Pinch of baking soda.
- Prepare 2 tbsp of plain flour.
- Prepare 1 tbsp of ghee.
- It's 2 tbsp of milk powder.
- Prepare of For sugar syrup.
- It's 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Prepare 1 1/2 cup of water.
- You need 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.
- Prepare as needed of saffron strings or yellow food colour (optional).
- Prepare as needed of Almonds and pistachio flakes for garnishing.
Obviously Bengali sweets are our family favourite. Apart from rasgullas and sandesh, i dont know much about Bengali sweets before entering to this virtual world, slowly i came to know about many more That looks gorgeous Priya! I have never made Chanar jilepi, though I have eaten them many times. Chanar Jalebi or Paneer Jilebi is a famous Bengali sweet made during any occasion.
Chanar jilepi Bengali sweet) instructions
- First in a small bowl add 1tbsp suji+ 2 tbsp milk...And keep aside for 5 mins..
- Now in a bowl add all ingredients (along with suji + milk mixture)...and mix well...Knead dough well for 5 mins..till smooth..
- Divide the dough in equal 4 portion.take a portion and roll it into a long rope..
- Roll carefully to get a round shape..Like jalebi....
- Meanwhile in a pan add sugar and water..(for making sugar syrup). Stir till sugar dissolved..Add cardamom powder, saffron/yellow food colour..and cook..for a min..
- Deep fry all the prepared jilepi...In ghee/oil...till dark golden brown..
- Add these fried jilepi in sugar syrup and cook for few mins...then switch off the flame...
- Take it out and garnish with almonds and pista flakes...
This jalebi is made out of paneer or Chanar and then soaked in warm sugar syrup. The recipe is very easy to follow, but I had some trouble shaping the jalebi's. sweet. india.
