  1. You need 3 of medium sized potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed).
  2. You need 2 tbsp of oil or clarified butter.
  3. Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
  4. Prepare 1 tsp of fennel seeds.
  5. You need 2 pinch of asafoetida.
  6. You need 1 tsp of grated ginger.
  7. Prepare 5-6 of curry leaves.
  8. It's 1 tsp of kasuri methi.
  9. You need 2 of green chillies slit or chopped.
  10. You need 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  11. It's 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.
  12. It's 1 tsp of coriander powder.
  13. You need 1/4 tsp of garam masala powder.
  14. It's 1 of tomato pureed or grated.
  15. Prepare 1/2 cup of whisked fresh yoghurt.
  16. It's to taste of Salt.

  1. Heat oil in a wok on low medium flame..
  2. Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds and asafoetida. Saute for few seconds..
  3. Add in the grated ginger, curry leaves, kasuri methi and green chillies. Saute for few seconds..
  4. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder. Saute on low flame..
  5. Add grated tomato, saute till oil starts leaving the sides of masala..
  6. Further add in the whisked yoghurt and give a quick mix..
  7. Now add 1 1/2 cups water, mashed potato, salt and garam masala powder. Mix well and let it cook for 2-3 minutes on low medium flame..
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with steamed rice and chapatis..
