Recipe: Appetizing Sweet Appam

Sweet Appam. I have posted the wheat appam recipe, the same one she will deep fry. As we used to gobble it when amma makes it. As i am not a big sweet lover, during my childhood days.

Sweet Appam Sweet appam or Sweet paniyaram is a crisp, soft and porous dumpling made with leftover idli batter. Turn the sweet appam with a skewer or spoon so as the other side gets cooked. Make sweet paniyaram or sweet appam in batches. You can cook Sweet Appam using 11 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Sweet Appam

  1. You need 1 cup of rice flour.
  2. Prepare 3/4 cup of wheat flour.
  3. It's 1/4 cup of rava (suji).
  4. You need 2 tbsp of ghee.
  5. It's 1/2 cup of coconut in small pieces.
  6. It's 3 of banana.
  7. You need 1 tbsp of Teel.
  8. Prepare 1 cup of jaggery.
  9. Prepare of as required Ghee to fry.
  10. Prepare 1 pinch of salt.
  11. It's 1/2 tsp of Elaichi powder.

Heat half cup water in a pan. Switch off and add grated jaggery or karupatti. Disclaimer: I do not like Sweet Appam as much as a brownie. But I know so many people who love this South Indian.

Sweet Appam instructions

  1. Take a rice flour in a pan fry it for few min,once the roasted smells come remove it..
  2. Take a bowl of rice flour,wheat flour, rava.
  3. Grind the banana into fine paste.
  4. Melt jaggery in pan,just melt it don't make paak of it..
  5. Cut small pieces of coconut and fry it in ghee..
  6. In a big bowl mix all flours and banana paste and mix it well and add teel seeds and fried coconut along with ghee and jaggery.mix it well along the above preparation (flour and banana paste).
  7. Mix all the ingredients into a thik paste..if required add very little water till the batter should be like dosa batter.
  8. Once done put in appam pan,like this fry both the side with ghee in medium flame it looks black because of wheat don't get afraid it tastes yummy..

Sweet appam is best opted by people who need fast and easy snack because they have chronic lateness or people who like to feel like they're eating dessert all the time. Sweet appam is mostly made during festive occasions or as a quick snack. This sweet was introduced to me by my mother in law, appam using banana was new to me…. as my amma makes. Nei Appam is a one of the common sweet made for the Thirukarthigai festival. The appam dough is made using rice flour and jaggery mix which is further cooked on the ghee.
